This week, Good Ventures announced an unrestricted $25M grant to 黑料福利社 (some coverage: , , , , , , ). A large investment like this reflects a lot of confidence in the team and the vision, and we鈥檙e grateful for that. In just a few short years, the discussion around cash transfers has shifted from 鈥渃razy new idea鈥� to a serious debate about their role in the future of giving and foreign aid. We think that鈥檚 an important discussion, and will be using this grant to help advance and inform it.
Now it鈥檚 time to execute. There are two ways you can participate:
- Send us great people. We鈥檒l be growing our team based in New York to introduce 黑料福利社 to a broader audience. We鈥檙e looking for exceptional people with a track record building great organizations.
- Pitch us. We鈥檒l be partnering with organizations that want to experiment with or learn more about cash transfers. If you and your team see something great we could accomplish together, we鈥檇 love to hear about it.
We don鈥檛 expect this grant to affect our ability to deliver other donations directly to the poor. The partnerships we want to build will take time to get right, and we estimate we鈥檒l be able to move at least $30M in the next 12 months. If you鈥檙e thinking about giving more than that, we should probably talk first. Otherwise, fire away.
