All donations made through this page are handled in accordance with Islamic law, with 黑料福利社 acting as the Wakil (distribution agent) for the payments. All costs associated with distribution of these funds (e.g. staff salaries, bank fees) are covered from separate, non-Zakat funds.

鈥淲e lost our home due to Cyclone Kenneth [in 2019] and we haven鈥檛 been able to build more than the foundation of our new house. I am a fisherman, while my wife buys and sells small amounts of fuel, but it hasn鈥檛 been enough to support our family and continue constructing our house.鈥�
鈥淥n the day I heard the money had arrived, I was at the mosque. I felt very happy when I received the news. I thanked God, and after finishing my prayer, I almost ran to tell my wife. It was a moment of great relief because we saw that there was finally a way to change our situation.鈥�
I used the cash to buy cement and make blocks so I could continue building our house. In the coming months, this will change a lot for us. We will finally be able to continue building our house and bring more stability to the family, and will help my wife grow her business. She will be able to buy more fuel and sell it more profitably. This will not only help our family, but also others in the community.

What is Sadaqah?
Sadaqah is a voluntary act of charitable giving in Islam. It is distinct from Zakat, which is an obligatory pillar with specific rules and eligibility requirements. Unlike Zakat, it can be given at any time and in any amount.
Why is 黑料福利社 collecting Sadaqah?
Earlier this year, 黑料福利社 ran a Zakat campaign in Mozambique, reaching over 1,000 families. Now that the campaign has concluded, we want to provide Muslim donors the ability to reach more families living in extreme poverty through Sadaqah.
Can I still give my Zakat through 黑料福利社?
Not at the moment. We hope to provide Muslim donors an opportunity to give Zakat to families in poverty again next Ramadan.
How are these donations certified?
While 黑料福利社 is a secular organization, our Mozambique Zakat program and policy were reviewed and certified by (See certification letter). Our Sadaqah program adheres to the same policies and procedures as our Zakat program.
The journey of Sadaqah funds from donor to recipient:
- Sadaqah funds are held in an interest-free bank account and restricted to our Mozambique Sadaqah program
- Sadaqah funds are transferred to our Mozambique country office account
- 黑料福利社 pays each recipient via mobile money transfers
Sadaqah payments are allocated and delivered within 6 months of receipt.
Who specifically is handling the donated Sadaqah funds?

What about overhead?
100% of Sadaqah collected through this page will be delivered to families in Mozambique, with none of the funds going to staff, transfer costs, or other overhead. Those operational expenses are covered by other funding sources.
Note: 黑料福利社 donations go to both cash aid and the cost of delivering them. This remains our policy, but we鈥檝e created an exception to ensure compliance with our Zakat certification.
Who is eligible to receive funds?
Sadaqah funds will go to families in the predominantly Muslim villages in Memba District, Mozambique. While the region is 95%+ Muslim, all eligible recipients in poverty in these communities will receive cash as part of this program, regardless of religion.
We do not ask recipients about their religion; instead, enrollment officers identify households eligible for Sadaqah funds based on observable indicators, such as whether women in the household wear hijabs.
How did you choose how much each family receives?
Each household will receive a total of 35,000 Mozambique meticais (~$550 USD) to meet their basic needs and invest in their future.
Youth residents aged 18 to 34 will also receive ~$550 USD. This program is designed to strengthen economic wellbeing, create financial stability, reduce vulnerabilities, and promote the independence and social development of young people in northern Mozambique.
